Skill Development Training

This is an hour-long training I developed and delivered in person to graduate and undergraduate students in an experiential program to introduce students to how to conduct surveys and focus groups. I developed the training by conducting secondary research on survey design and utilizing my knowledge of survey design best practices. For the focus group section, I attended a course on focus groups and conducted secondary research to develop the content. I combined presenting the material in lecture format with opportunities for the students to apply the material through examples. Further, I developed worksheets for the students to work in small groups to develop survey questions and think of focus group scenarios to practice the knowledge gained in the training and emulate their groupwork style of learning in their program. The survey worksheet is included for reference. The application of skills helps support learner retention and ability to replicate on their own.
